Carver

The beginning of Carver Skateboards

It all started in the summer of 1995, when Greg Falk and Neil Carver were once again looking for alternatives due to a lack of waves. Skateboards on the street had their appeal, but the feeling of real surfing was out of reach. The skateboards of the day were too stiff and immobile, and they soon found that the front axle had to turn more than the back axle to achieve the turning dynamics of a thruster surfboard. As with many start-ups in history, the first Carver skateboard prototypes were then welded together in a garage. However, this was only about having fun and the good surfing feeling and not about founding their own company. If this could have been bought as a skateboard, they would have done it and preferred skating to tinkering.

So over the next few years, skate trucks were developed that conveyed the feeling of surfing much better than all the skateboards available up to that point. That's why the boards and technology are also known as SURFSKATE, which you can see very well in this video:

More surfing than skating

If you watch the videos and understand the technique, you will quickly realise that Carver boards are actually more like small surfboards for riding waves on asphalt. No tricks, no ollies and no grinding are done with them. The boards are simply too expensive to scrap. Anyone who has ridden a Carver skateboard for the first time has to admit that it is a completely different kind of skating. "You just have to have done it to know what it's like."

The Carver Skateboards team

The PRO team is actually made up more of surfers:
