Girl Skateboards wurde Mitte der 90er von Rick Howard, Mike Carroll, Megan Baltimore und Spike Jonze gegründet.

Das Girl-Logo ähnelt dem Symbol auf den Badezimmern von Frauen und wurde von Andy Jenkins, dem hauseigenen Künstler von Girl, entworfen, der das Unternehmen verließ [5] , um sich im Oktober 2017 Element Skateboards anzuschließen.
