The classic street skateboard deck
.
A skateboard deck consists in the classic construction of 7 layers of Canadian maple (English maple) which are pressed with special adhesives (such as synthetic resin and epoxy) under pressure into their shape. High quality skateboards are cold pressed. This takes longer and increases production costs, but results in a much more stable skateboard deck than if the process is accelerated by heat. The classic street skateboard is characterized by the so-called twin tip shape. In front of the board (the nose) and behind (the tail) the board is bent upwards. In a modern skateboard shape, the nose is slightly longer and wider than the tail. Only this shape allows you to do tricks such as the Ollie. More about the different deck shapes like Low, Mid or Hi Concave you can find in our Shape Guide. Some manufacturers offer skateboard decks with special constructions. Reinforcements of the laminate layers on the axle beams or fiberglass layers between the wood, which increase the stability. Over the years we have also seen repeated attempts to build the "unbreakable" skateboard. Decks made entirely of carbon fiber, various types of plastic, aluminum or even hemp - it's all been there. But none of these materials has prevailed, and the winner remains even after several decades of skateboarding: Canadian Maple.
